Beginning Monday, December 17, 2007, the North Bergen MUA will put into effect its new Recycling Routes. Find out your recycling pick-up day here!

Recycle all Co-Mingled Paper

Co-mingled paper includes newspapers & advertising inserts, magazines, envelopes & writing paper, junk mail, corrugated boxes, dry food boxes, computer & fax paper, catalogs, TV guides, hard & soft covered books, phone books, wrapping paper & brown bags.

Co-Mingled paper should be:

  • A: Placed in brown bags and TIED with cord, or
  • B: TIED In 12 inch bundles, or
  • C: Placed in cardboard boxes and TIED with cord.

PLEASE - NO PLASTIC BAGS

Paper not to be Recycled

Paper contaminated by food waste, solvents, cleaners, etc.

Co-Mingled Bottles & Cans

Mixed glass bottles, plastic bottles, and all metal cans.

Co-Mingled bottles & cans should be:

  • A: Placed in a plastic refuse container or
  • B: In any other reusable container.

PLEASE - NO PLASTIC BAGS

Materials not to be Recycled

Ceramic cups or plates, plastic toys or other plastic items, window glass or other glass items. If you are not sure if an item can be recycled, please call (201) 422-0100.

Appliances

Please call (201) 392-2128 to have old refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, air conditioners, or other appliances removed. These items will be removed by appointment only on specific days.

Household Hazardous Waste

This event takes place twice a year. The Hudson County Improvement Authority (1-800-540-0987 HCIA) sponsors this. It is held during the months of April and October.

HHW Includes but is not limited to Pesticides, thinners, pool chemicals. paint, motor oil, aerosol cans, propane tanks, antifreeze, household & car batteries, etc.

Bulk Items/Leaves

Leaves: Collected by North Bergen DPW October thru December. Call (201) 392-2128. For other large items such as sofas, wood, mattresses and TV's, please call the North Bergen DPW at (201) 392-2128.

Please Note

Materials such as motor oil & antifreeze, tires (without rims only), are recyclable, however, they are not collected at curbside, they must be brought to the Recycling Center.

Remember Collection Day
Recycle Every Wednesday
Place at curbside Tuesday after 6:00pm.
